I still remember, vivid or clear,

It was Plague of Athens, arriving through the port of Piraeus,

Struck us with fever and thirst.

Many died and few lived,

 But humanity survived.

 For the Good Lord of hope and faith has risen, 

 To the light of love and joy!

I still remember, vivid or clear, 

Then came Antonine Plague, devastating my own Aurelius Empire, 

Began with diarrhoea and vomiting.

Destabilized and changed the dynamics of my society,

Many gladiators died and I was also one.

Few made it and changed their faith,

But humanity survived.

For the Good Lord of hope and faith has risen,

To the light of love and joy!

I still remember, vivid or clear,

The name was just, the plague of Justinian,

Brought to us by the rats from the carts of supplies.

Along the Silk Road, back to Constantinople,

With no idea of how to treat.

Most of us died of fatigue and delusion,

But humanity survived.

For the Good Lord of hope and faith has risen,

To the light of love and joy!

I still remember, vivid or clear.

They called it Bubonic Plague, The Black Death,

That killed millions of people, 

And paved the way to the Law of Quarantino.

I eluded death this time and uttered, 

“What doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger”.

And we shifted our focus from heaven to humanity.

Eventually to the period of Renaissance, 

While the death toll in millions,

But humanity survived.

For the Good Lord of hope and faith has risen

To the Light of Love and Joy!

I still remember, vivid or clear,

The Smallpox virus arrived along with the first European Explorers,

And wiped down the indigenous population to 90 percent.

I was unlucky and didn’t make it this time, 

Dying of fever and boils. 

It was the first virus epidemic to be ended,

By the Discovery of a Vaccine.

And it took 2 more centuries to annihilate the disease,

But humanity survived.

For the Good Lord of hope and faith has risen

To the Light of Love and Joy!

I still remember, vivid or clear,

The outbreak of COVID-19, acute respiratory syndrome.

With symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath,

And spread by close contact and droplets.

Having no vaccine or antiviral treatment,

The only way to prevent its spread,

Is by the Law of quarantine, again.

Even If one messes up, the whole of Globe is tossed.

I may die or may not,

But humanity survived.

For the Good Lord of hope and faith has risen

To the Light of Love and Joy!
